Hi, I’m De-de Mulligan, Content Strategist/Writer for Mulligan Management Group, a company I founded on October 1, 2000, with $3,500 and a business plan. But I did not start in digital marketing (because there was no such thing twenty years ago). I was an Independent Meeting Planner and Writer for printed materials (i.e., flyers, brochures). Within one year, 9/11 happened, and for a brief period, the meetings industry collapsed. But it recovered within a few months.
I did well for several years until a personal trifecta of 2008-09 hit. Event Planners were getting laid off from their corporate and association jobs in droves, the economy was in the tank, and I was going through a painful divorce. My company took a significant financial hit that year because of the lack of meetings and the competitive field I was swimming in -so I pivoted to something new – social media. Slowly over the last eleven years, I have brought on new services, including blogging, email campaigns, public relations, and websites.
Fast forward to the interesting times we live in today. I feel this is going to be the worst bump of all. Due to a diverse customer base, I’m able to hang on for the ride. Some of my clients have had to close temporarily, while others have experienced a surge in their business.
